Introduction: Bajra Porridge is a nutritious and filling breakfast option made from pearl millet. It’s easy to prepare and provides a good source of energy to kickstart your day.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup Bajra (pearl millet), soaked overnight
- 4 cups water
- 1/2 cup milk (optional)
- 2 tbsp jaggery or sugar (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
- A pinch of salt
- Nuts and dried fruits for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
- Preparation:
- Drain the soaked bajra.
- Cooking the Bajra:
- In a large pot, bring 4 cups of water to a boil.
- Add the drained bajra and a pinch of salt. Cook on medium heat until the bajra is soft and fully cooked, about 25-30 minutes. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
- Making the Porridge:
- Once the bajra is cooked, add milk (if using), jaggery or sugar, and cardamom powder.
- Stir well and cook for another 5-10 minutes until the jaggery dissolves and the porridge reaches your desired consistency.
- Serving:
- Serve hot, garnished with nuts and dried fruits if desired.
