  • 1 cup Kodo Millet
  • 1 ½ cups Curd (Thick Yogurt)
  • 1 ½ cups Water
  • Salt to taste

  • 🥕 1 small Carrot, finely chopped
  • 🌽 ¼ cup Green Peas
  • 🧅 1 small Onion, chopped
  • 🌶️ 1 Green Chilli, chopped
  • 🥦 Optional: Beans, Capsicum, Small Broccoli Florets

🧄 Tempering

  • 1 tbsp Oil or Ghee
  • 1 tsp Mustard Seeds
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 tsp Urad Dal
  • 1 tsp Chana Dal
  • 8–10 Curry Leaves
  • A pinch of Hing
  • 1–2 Dry Red Chillies

👩‍🍳 How to Make Kodo Millet Curd Upma

🔹 Step 1 – Wash & Cook the Millet

Wash Kodo millet well and cook it with 1½ cups of water until soft and fluffy.
Keep aside to cool completely.
(Important: Millet should be cooled so the curd doesn’t split.)

🔹 Step 2 – Prepare the Tempering

Heat oil/ghee in a pan.
Add mustard seeds → cumin → urad dal → chana dal.
Let them turn golden.
Add curry leaves, hing, and dry red chillies.

🔹 Step 3 – Sauté the Veggies 🥕🌽🥦

Add chopped onions, carrots, peas, beans, and green chillies.
Sauté lightly for 2–3 minutes.
Veggies should stay crunchy — that’s the charm!

🔹 Step 4 – Add the Cooked Millet

Add the cooled, fluffy Kodo millet.
Mix gently so the veggies and tempering spread evenly.

🔹 Step 5 – Add Curd

Switch off the flame.
Add thick curd and salt.
Mix slowly to create a creamy, chilled Upma texture.
(If you want it softer, add 2–3 tbsp water.)

🔹 Step 6 – Rest & Serve

Let it sit 5 minutes for flavours to blend.

Serve immediately!
