Jowar Tandoori Roti is a healthy and gluten-free Indian bread made from sorghum flour (jowar). It’s perfect for pairing with any curry or dal, providing a nutritious alternative to regular wheat rotis.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups jowar flour (sorghum flour)
- 1 tablespoon oil
- Salt to taste
- Warm water as needed
Instructions:
1. Prepare the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, combine jowar flour and salt.
- Add warm water gradually and knead to form a soft dough.
- Add oil and knead again until smooth.
- Cover and let it rest for 10-15 minutes.
2. Roll Out the Rotis:
- Divide the dough into equal-sized balls.
- Dust a rolling surface with some jowar flour.
- Roll out each ball into a flat disc, about ¼ inch thick.
3. Cook the Rotis:
- Preheat a tandoor or oven to high heat. Alternatively, you can use a stovetop tawa or griddle.
- Place the rolled roti in the tandoor or on the tawa.
- Cook until bubbles appear on the surface and the roti puffs up.
- Flip and cook on the other side until brown spots appear.
4. Serve:
- Serve hot with butter or ghee and your favorite curry or dal.
